Everything You Need To Know About Biking Camp
Learn-to-Bike Camp – Ages 4 to 6
Our Learn-to-Bike program is one of the most effective and supportive programs for teaching kids how to ride independently. Designed for beginners, we focus on building confidence, balance, and coordination in a fun and encouraging environment.
With over 1,000 campers graduated off training wheels, we’re proud to say that our proven methods help kids of all ages and skill levels successfully learn to ride on their own. Our experienced instructors guide each child step by step—from balance exercises to full pedaling, ensuring they gain the skills and confidence they need to bike independently by the end of the program.
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions regarding this program:
Do I need to bring a bike from home?
Yes, we do require our students to bring their own bikes from home. This ensures that they are getting accustomed to riding on a bike that they are familiar with, and that their bike can be adjusted to their needs.
Does my child’s bike need to have training wheels?
No, we do not require bikes to have training wheels. However, if your child has never ridden their bike without training wheels, we do recommend that you leave them on for camp. Our coaches are equipped with the tools to remove them. This is to ensure that your child is not intimidated by the sudden change.
Do my kids need a helmet?
Yes, every student is required to wear a helmet for biking. Please note your child will not participate in the learn to bike portion of the day, and will be placed into a full day adventure camp group if they do not bring a helmet to camp.
Do my kids need padding?
While padding is not required, some students feel more comfortable with padding. If you choose to bring padding for your child, please label every piece with their first and last name so they are not misplaced.
Do I need to bring home their bike everyday?
No, while you are welcome to take home their bike whenever you would like, we have overnight storage on site all week in order to make your transportation of their bikes as convenient as possible.
Do you store the bikes on site during the week?
Yes, in order to ease the transportation of our campers bikes, we provide secure indoor bike storage for the week.
Will I get their training wheels back?
Yes, please ensure to label both wheels with your childs first and last name.
What will my child be doing if it rains?
Our coaches are equipped with rainy day lesson plans. During rainy days our learn to bike campers will be placed in a classroom or gym setting where they will participate in fun and interactive road safety exercises/games. They will also touch base on the specifics of riding in bike lanes, trails, and basic bike maintenance.
How many weeks do you recommend for my child to be fully off their training wheels?
While every child learns at a different pace, on average we recommend a minimum of 2 weeks. Rest assured, if your child gets off their training wheels before the end of your registration, our coaches will work with them to continue to develop their riding skills off the training wheels (balance, handling, reaction time, etc.).
My child already knows how to bike without training wheels, is this program still suitable for them?
Yes, our coaches modify individual lessons and activities based on your child’s skill level. If your child is already off their training wheels their coach will work with them to improve balance, handling, reaction time, and more!
