Welcome to our Preschool Swim  Camp, where we’ve crafted a dynamic Half-day program to cater to the diverse interests and energy levels of our campers. Our Learn to Swim session focuses on refining swimming skills, instilling water safety principles, and building endurance relevant to the campers ages. Campers progress through the Lifesaving Society levels, ensuring a comprehensive and skill-oriented approach to aquatic activities.

Our Learn-to-Swim program and Lifesaving Society alignment ensure a structured approach to swimming skill development and water safety awareness throughout the week, with students given enough time in the pool to pass from level to level over the course of one week.

About camp

Bronze Star: develops swimming proficiency, lifesaving skill and personal fitness. Candidates refine their stroke mechanics, acquire self-rescue skills, and apply fitness principles in training workouts. Bronze Star is excellent preparation for success in Bronze Medallion and provides a fun introduction to lifesaving sport.

PLEASE NOTE: PARTICIPANT MUST BE UNDER THE AGE OF 13 TO APPLY FOR BRONZE STAR. IF OVER THE AGE OF 13, PLEASE APPLY FOR BRONZE MEDALLION, OR BRONZE COMBO COURSE.

Bronze Medallion: challenges the candidate both mentally and physically. Judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness – the four components of water rescue – form the basis of Bronze Medallion training. Candidates acquire the assessment and problem-solving skills needed to make good decisions in, on, and around the water.

Bronze Cross: begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as assistant lifeguards. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross emphasizes the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies.

 

Prerequisites: Minimum 13 years of age or completed Bronze Star.

National Lifeguard Certification

National Lifeguard certification is Canada’s professional lifeguard standard. National Lifeguard training develops a sound understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgment, and a mature and responsible attitude towards the lifeguard’s role. National Lifeguard training emphasizes prevention and effective rescue response in emergencies including first aid treatment. Candidates develop teamwork, leadership and communication skills. Fitness requirements include a timed object recovery, 50 m sprint challenge, 50 m rescue drill and 400 m endurance challenge.

The National Lifeguard training program is designed for lifesavers who wish to obtain a responsible job and leadership experience. Successful candidates are certified by the Lifesaving Society – Canada’s lifeguarding experts.

Mandatory Information: 

• 100% attendance is required to successfully complete this course. Students who miss a session will not be refunded and cannot make up any portion of their course.
• The duration of classes might change based on the number of participants
• Doors will open 15 minutes before the starting time of your course. Please keep in mind that you will need to wait outside if you arrive any earlier.

Prerequisites: minimum 15 years of age, Bronze Cross, and Standard First Aid-C

What are the NL Program Prerequisites? What do I require to participacte in the program?

Standard First Aid provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR. Standard First Aid incorporates all of Emergency First Aid and is designed for those who require a more in-depth understanding of first aid including: legal implications of first aid treatment, spinal injuries, heat or cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, chest injuries, and medical emergencies. Includes CPR-C certification.

The first aid program is not restricted to aquatic candidates. You can use the Lifesaving Society’s first aid awards to train non-aquatic staff (camp, playground, maintenance, etc.) and the general public.

Lifesaving Society Standard First Aid certification is valid for 36 months from the certification date.

Requirements: Canadian First Aid Manual or Canadian Lifesaving Manual + Pocket Mask

TAC Adventure Camp is our premier physical literacy multi-sport program. Our dynamic and fun program covers popular group sports (soccer and basketball), individual sports (dance, and gymnastics), and basic mixed martial arts.

The daily activities include multi-sport training and other activities such as arts and crafts, camp songs, and low-organizational games where campers learn fundamental social and movement skills. Our program fosters creativity and imagination while building the foundation for future sports success.

Our TAC Soccer program is designed for all skill levels; ranging from the fundamentals to the refinement of the most advanced techniques. Programming focuses on individual skills and on increasing children’s self-confidence. Programming consists of fun skill games, soccer matches, and thorough practices.

Students start with basic techniques such as dribbling, passing and shooting, and move towards advanced techniques such as strategy, 1v1 dribbling, and positioning. Further skills are also developed such as ball control, ball possession, tackling, positional sense, guarding the ball, and support play. Specialized training for goalkeepers is provided at more advanced levels.

We apply the 5-Star TAC Soccer Development System to all of our soccer programs. This system gives students 5 measurable levels to achieve with specific criteria outlined. It is specifically designed to increase motivation, knowledge retention, goal-setting skills, and development. This system is unique and distinguishes TAC Sports from other camps.

We are dedicated to a mission of taking campers to the highest level of competition. Campers that progress to an advanced level may be invited to tryout for our competitive soccer academy, Toronto Athletic FC Academy (www.tacacademy.ca).

Our TAC Basketball camp program is designed for all skill levels; from the introduction of the fundamentals of basketball to the refinement of the most advanced techniques.

Students work on basic techniques such as ball handling, shooting, passing, defence, footwork, positioning, and strategy. Students work on skill building, playing games and working on their skills through practice and repetition. Advanced students will learn positioning, and strategy, and have specific feedback on improving their fundamental techniques.

We apply the 5-Star TAC Basketball Development System to all of our programs. The 5-Star Basketball Development System gives students 5 measurable levels to achieve with specific criteria outlined. This is specifically designed to increase motivation, knowledge retention, goal-setting skills, and development. This is a unique and distinguishing factor of our camps.
