TAC Academy – 2020 – Positive Foundation for Success

The 2020 year was a challenging one on many levels for everyone. We are so very proud of the TAC Families and players for their resilience and their commitment to getting better at the game of soccer.

Indoor 2019-2020 Season: Our players showed amazing passion and desire to improve. We had a great 2019-2020 Indoor Season, with our 2010s and our 2009s showing much improvement over the course of the year and winning the majority of their games in the Greater Toronto Indoor Soccer League.

Outdoor Season: When COVID-19 hit, our players all joined in for our weekly zoom sessions from April to June. Players were able to keep fit, keep working on their skills, and learn strategies and techniques. We released our ‘At Home Workout’ Training Kit: a step-by-step guide for maximizing the training at home.

In June and continuing to August and September, our players got better with Semi-Private lessons, then outdoor practices and then outdoor camps. Many of our players made extreme improvements, becoming totally different players over the course of 2020, showing extreme leaps in understanding, confidence and skill.

New Teams: During the outdoor season, the 2012, 2013, and 2014/2015 teams were formed and in no short of 6 months, have all become hugely solid teams of 15+ players.

While we couldn’t do a summer league, our players thrived in intra-squad play, having over 7 intrasquad games and learning to work with each other in the games.

This year we were proud to have over 1000 campers and 100 players consistently without one instant of COVID and with maximum safety for all players, coaches and families. We passed 3 successful health checks from the government over the course of 2020.

Indoor Season 2020: In October, our Indoor Season was started with a complete revamp to the logo (being T.A.F.C., or Toronto Athletic Football Club instead of just TAC), changing the classic colours of our kits from light blue and yellow (from 2014 to 2020) to red and purple (more Royal colours). We also changed the tracksuits from black to royal blue for both the players and coaches.

The indoor season was a huge success, with many players playing 3 times a week with an intrasquad game until the lockdown came into effect. We had outdoor training and 2 viewing parties to end off the year with as much training and learning as possible.

Our year was finally capped off with our Holiday Camp from Dec 21-24th, with over 25 players learning, playing and practicing for 4 days before Christmas and New Year breaks.

We would love to thank all of our players and families for support throughout this year.
